Frequently Asked Questions

The Lindens plan to release one region every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There have also been releases on other weekdays. Releases will generally be some time between 6AM SLT and 5PM SLT.

Your Linden Homes Traditional house is available in four models:

Adams
Alderley
Continental
Winchester

Each has a distinctive style, which you can customize to your own liking.  The control panel just inside the front door manages your options.

The control panel will respond only to your touch commands, unless you decide to give other people limited permission with the ACCESS control discussed below

Click on the Control Panel to activate its main menu:

1. The DOOR option opens a second menu :

    AUTO CLOSE /STAY OPEN determines whether the door will close automatically within 10 seconds after it opens.
    
2. The WINDOWS option opens a second menu that lets you make all windows in your home COVERED or UNCOVERED by the window blinds.  You may also open or close any of the blinds individually by clicking on it.
    
3. The REDECORATE option lets you change colors and textures on several parts of your home:

    a. The OUTSIDE option lets you select colors and textures to re-style the outside walls of your home.

    b. The WALLS option lets you choose a color for the walls inside your home.
     
    c. The FLOOR option lets you select among four different styles of floor covering.

    d. The ROOF option lets you select among three different roof shingles (dark, medium, and light)

4.  The ACCESS option is only visible for you, the owner. It gives you the following options.  Please note that the ACCESS options do not control permission to rez objects in your home, or change its music stream. Manage those permissions by creating a group for your home and using the World >> About Land menu in your viewer.
        
    a. The ADD NAME option lets you add the name of any person to a list of people that you may trust to use some of the house controls.  When you click on this option, you will be able to type the person's Login Name (Not a Display Name). Please ALWAYS have the person test the panel to be sure that you have identified him/her correctly.  [NOTE: The ADD NAME option creates a list. To give people on the list permission to use your house controls, you must then use the LIST option.]
    
    b. The REMOVE NAME option only appears if you have already created an access list. When you click on this option, you will be able to type the person's Login Name (Not a Display Name). Look in chat to see the names of people currently on the list.
    
    c. The ANYONE option lets you make it possible for any person to operate the doors, windows, and window blinds in your home. Only you and people on your access list will be able to use the house control panel.

    d. The LIST option only appears if you have already used the ADD NAME option to create a list.  It lets you make it possible for people on your access list to operate the doors, windows, and window blinds, and to use the house control panel.
    
    e. The ONLY ME option lets you prevent everyone from operating doors, windows, and window blinds, and to use the control panel.
    
    f.  The VIEW LIST option only appears if you have already used the ADD NAME option to create a list.  It shows you the full list of people that you have added to the access list.

5. The DONE option, where it appears on any of the menus, closes the menu and saves your selection in remote storage.  Please note that selections will be saved and any open dialog menus will be deactivated if they have not been touched for 20 seconds. Unless you choose the DONE option or the dialog box's "Ignore" button, however, the dialog box will stay open on your screen.
    
6. The BACK option appears on most menus to help you navigate to a previous menu.

In addition to the Control Panel options, the following features are also built into your Linden Home:
    
You and other people that you have authorized with the Access menu options may:

1. Click on any window blind to raise or lower it individually..

2. Click on any window to raise or lower it.  This works whether you click the window from the inside or the outside.

When you make a REDECORATE choice in your Control Panel, or when you add people to the home's access list, your choices are stored in a remote system.  If you decide to change to a different model of Traditional home on this parcel, your saved choices will be applied to the new model.

If you ever find that the Control Panel does not respond to your commands, try using the mailbox on your parcel to rez a replacement copy of the same model of houseboat. Your furniture and other belongings will remain where they are.
    
Please note also that Linden Lab may offer new house models or upgraded versions of existing ones from time to time. When that happens, current residents will be notified. You may choose to use the mailbox to select a  new model or upgrade at any time.

    g. The DOORS option lets you choose a color for the door(s) in your houseboat or, in some models, the wood trim around the door(s).

    Note: The Windlass model has an ACCENT TRIM option that lets you change color on some accent trim around windows and doors.

    h. The TRIM option choose a color for the wood trim.
    
    i. The DECK option lets you choose a color for the deck outside your home.

    j. The ROOF option lets you choose a color for the roof. (This option is not available for some houseboat models.)
     
    k. The BEAMS option (available on the Wallower model) lets you choose a color for some extra wood posts and the roof.
